In my recent trip to gamestop I got Yakuza 0 for $20 and I’ve been playing the game nonstop, so I decided to talk a bit about the game, the things so far I am enjoy and the ones that I find a pain.

What’s the game about?

In Yakuza 0 you take control of Kiryu and Majima. Kiryu is suspected of murder after the man that he has collected money from winds up dead in the Empty Lot. Kiryu’s boss, Sohei Dojima, offers a promotion to second-in-command of the Dojima Family to whomever can find the deed to the land, and thus the most ruthless members go after Kiryu.  Majima runs a cabaret club after being exiled from the Tojo Clan due to the botched Ueno-Seiwa hit years earlier, involving his oath brother, Taiga Saejima. Despite the success of his club, he realizes it’s nothing more than a cage as he’s under constant surveillance. One day, Majima’s supervisor, Tsukasa Sagawa of the Omi Alliance, offers him a chance to rejoin the Shimano Family by assassinating a target named Makoto Makimura.

The game’s story is pretty intense and really good. I don’t enjoy dramatic games that much but the type of drama Yakuza has is a good one that keeps me interested in the game. The side quest the game has are funny and some are a bit sad. Is a game which has a lot of love and dedication put into it. (which btw, is the other games going to get remastered? :C)

The kimochi ii parts

The combat is fun, it gives you different ways to play the game or you can be like me and just like a specific way of fighting so you never actually play the others and just have a bit of a hard time fighting other characters who you are suppose to take out with the other kind of fighting.

The mini games are awesome, not as they are all fun, but just playing them a bit and having Kiryu or Majima being overly exited or getting really into karaoke makes me laugh every time.

The Mr.Shakedown part of the games are a bit annoying, is fine when you are forced to fight them, is a way to make you lose all your money and play the game a bit more, but when you are hunting for him int he other hand, is a fucking pain. I ran around the city hoping to find him but he was nowhere to be seen, an as soon as I gave up and went to the save point, there he was, I was happy, but extremely angry at the same time. (if you beat Mr.Shakedown you get a extremely large among of money, therefore I wanted to beat him up).

The yikes

It’s not bad, but it just takes the fun of making money away a bit, during chapter 5 or 6 (I don’t quite remember) you unlock the cat fight mini game, which makes the whole problem of making money a fucking joke, the mini game is located close to a save point and if you have the time you could easily go all in in the game, if you lose you only need to load the save, and keep trying until you win and make a unhealthy among of money. It is a fast way to make money, and I am so going to do what, but I no longer feel the need to play the other mini games to make cash, nor the need to fight other enemies on the street, nor hunt for Mr.Shakedown.

Yakuza 0 is a great game with a great story and a fun research story within the game. I strongly recommend this game, I usually would say that we need to talk about this, but let’s skip that this time because spoilers are bad 😀
